Veganista: Healthy Gut Food

My Zesty, herbal, and bright breakfast.

This Sunday morning, I decided to eat breakfast in a new way:

  • an olive mix
  • Garlic bread with a vegan non soy buttery spread
  • a whole avocado

This is actually a healthy fat breakfast. Healthy fat consumption allows for a healthy gut. Mounting research reveals (actually, it was known for centuries, with Hippocrates declaring, “All disease starts in the gut”) that our gut microbiome reacts to EVERYTHING we put in our bodies. So, we want to eat foods for our gut buddies–good bacteria, and not feed and multiply the bad bacteria.

As a maturing vegan, I am learning deep secrets about natural plant-based foods from nature, e.g. potatoes, tomatoes, eggplants….and why most are hostile to the gut microbiome, which tends to lead to leaky-gut, serious digestive problems like gas, diarrhea, bloating, constipation, stomach cramps.
