Veganista’s Medicinal Herb of the Week

lavenderI love lavender. It truly works for me.  I use it in dried tea form, especially Lavender and chamomile and essential oil form, medicinally, to relax, unwind, and get a good nights sleep. Lavender is used for anxiety, restlessness, insomnia, depression, headache and pain, and much more. I spray it on my bed right before I retire, and message it on my temples, neck, hands, ankles, and feet for calm and tranquility.

Infused crystalsInterestingly, I am reading a book right now about healing with crystals. I thought what about infusing essential oils with crystals! It can be done!  It is being done! While there are many ways of infusing. I think soaking or spraying the crystal with the oil is best, versus placing small crystal chips in an atomizer of essential oil mixed with water or alcohol, etc.  There are many choices.

On my feet, it works as an antibacterial and anti-fungal. I use a carrier oil, cream or lotion and several drops of oil and relax. Also, I add a few drops to a foot tub or bath water for a luxurious soak. Its a ritual that I look forward to each night!

Yes, you can use lavender in food and mixed drinks, too! Maybe you have eaten something with lavender in it. OMG–Vegan Lavender ICE CREAM! Did you know there are some great recipes online? Also, there are countless lavender lemonade recipes, as well as spiked drinks. One I found sounds interesting, Sparkling Lavender Orange Mimosa Cocktail.

Cheers and enjoy the healing and tranquilizing effects of lavender today!
